The Second Line Parade

by Hot Tomato on July 30, 2009 · 1 comment

in Events, Kids, Music

The Second Line Parade for this year’s Tomato Art Festival will be led by Halfbrass with a special guest appearance by the Shack Brown Drum Line from New Orleans.

Born under the influence of classic New Orleans tradition, Halfbrass creates festive atmospheres out on the street and all the way back to the stage by mixing second-line brass band music with funk, jazz and rock. Audiences love Halfbrass for its unique sound and party-like shows – in its first year, Halfbrass was named a “Top 5 Local Band” by The Nashville Rage.

The parade steps-off at 9am from the corner of Holly and 11th Street. It follows part of the 5k run course and then ends at the Main Stage on Woodland between 11th and 12th Streets.

Dress up in your favorite tomato (art) costume, bring an instrument to play, and let’s hit the streets!

For questions about the parade, contact Dave Thomas or Joyce Kisner, both at 262-8035.
