Start your Tomato Art Fest experience early at Bongo Java Roasting Co. and East Cafe with a fresh-brewed cup ‘o Joe and an Egg Bomb. Wake up while the children create their own tomato fun with sidewalk chalk, balloons and other crafty stuff!

Free fun for children of all ages!

Explorastory, a storytelling guild from Hendersonville, will be performing Tomato Tales from 10:30-11:30,

Explorastory of Rock Castle is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of the oral tradition of storytelling and bringing stories to our community and Middle Tennessee. Furthermore, it is a support group, helping storytellers shape and construct their stories for maximum impact and performance within our communities.

The East Nashville Tomato Art Festival will feature Explorastory in their Kids’ Fest, set up in the East End United Methodist churchyard. Stories there will be directed toward children of all ages and highlight the creativity and inspiration of everyone’s favorite fruit-vegetable. (10-10:30am, and 11-11:30am).

The church will also be providing free tomato themed crafts for the kids!!!!

And as if that were not enough, Boy Scout Troop 3 will be on hand, with refreshments available for purchase. Yum.

The Tomato, THE uniter of all fruits and vegetables loves to celebrate even the simple grains.  With that said, the second annual Tomato Art Festival Cornhole Tournament will take place at the 37206 Building (corner of 11th and Fatherland).  This fun event involves two players tossing bags of corn at a 6″ hole 10 yards away. Sound easy?  Don’t be fooled! Tomato Bicycle Art Show: (Hosted by Eastside Cycles)

For the Bike Art Show this year, Eastside Cycles is excited to feature work by Tim Kirkpatrick.  In addition to being a time machine repairman, he also makes amazing artwork from bicycle boxes from the back of our shop!  He created some fantastic pieces for the play Terminator the Second and we can’t wait to show his work during the festival.

Bike Valet by Walk/Bike Nashville.  Why drive and struggle with parking, when you can bike to the festival?  Members of Walk/Bike Nashville will park your bike behind Eastside Cycles, while you enjoy the festival from 10am-6pm.

Don’t be a Crushed Mater:  Bike Safety/Flat-Tire Repair Workshop.   Throughout the day, at the U-Fix It station behind the shop, we will offer Flat-tire clinics and bike safety presentations.

Wet Burrito Contest: (Sponsored by Nuvo Burrito)

There is nothing quite like Nuvo Burrito’s Wet Burrito Contest!
Although it seems pretty straightforward, it is actually a hilariously challenging competition!

Hungry contestants race to eat a burrito the fastest…while being hosed down with water.

Four winners will receive one-year memberships to the Burrito of the Month Club, with awards going to “Fastest Face-Filler” and “Best in Show”.

The event begins with the selection of the contestants. Judges will be looking for contestants that will best represent Tomato Art Fest and Nuvo Burrito in the year ahead. So gather your most outlandish outfit, sexy swimwear, tomato-themed ensemble, Spongebob Squarepants and/or superhero costumes and prepare to do battle!… (body paint encouraged, but not required. )

The burritos will be vegetartian and there will be separate heats for guys and girls.

To pre-register as a potential contestant, send an email with your plans to sean.p@nuvoburrito.com  Registration starts as soon as you read this. We will also accept 11th hour registration at Nuvo Burrito up until 30 minutes prior to the event.
