Once again this year, we'll be accepting entries on the Saturday before the festival at Margot Restaurant & Bar at 12:30-2pm, August 3rd. The chosen winner's recipe will appear on the menu with chef Hadley's take the weekend of Tomato Art Festival and of course, we'll celebrate the winner on socials.
In honor of the 2024 Paris Olympic games, the category is, "World Tour with Tomatoes": This category encourages international recipes featuring tomatoes. Entrants could create a dish inspired by any region of the world, as long as tomatoes are a prominent ingredient. This could include dishes like Panzanella salad (Italy), Menemen (Turkey), Shishito peppers with Marinated Tomatoes (Japan), or Pastelón (Puerto Rico). Winners will be awarded based on the prominent use of the tomato in its flavor profile, deliciousness, plating and presentation, and uniqueness of the dish.
There is no limit to the number of recipes participants may enter. Each entry must be accompanied with a written recipe with all ingredients, which can remain private should the participant choose, just let us know on the entry. Entrants must register in advance and may do so until August 2 at 3pm. Winners will receive a gift package from Eastside retailers Abode Mercantile and Turnip Truck Natural Market among others, and new this year, a trophy!
Judges panel will be headed up by Chef Hadley Long, executive chef, Margot, Nashville Scene food writer, and the select members of the TAF Recipe Contest committee.
